Vectorize is StyTrix's AI-powered garment analysis pipeline. It takes a single photo of any garment and runs it through four sequential processing steps — automatically transforming it from a raw photo into a professional product image, a technical sketch, a color-coded pattern map, and finally a scalable SVG vector file.
This is the complete technical documentation tool for fashion designers who need production-ready assets from a simple photograph.
How to Open Vectorize
In the left sidebar, click Vectorize. The panel appears with the full 4-step pipeline interface.
Step 1 — Upload Your Garment
Drop a photo of your garment into the upload zone:
- Drag & drop from your computer
- Drag from the StyTrix Canvas — any canvas image can be dragged directly in
- Click Browse to select a local file
- Click Library to choose from your Media Library
Once an image is loaded, it appears as a thumbnail with the filename. The pipeline resets automatically whenever you change the input image.
To replace the current image, click the reset icon (↺) beside the thumbnail.
The 4-Step Pipeline
Each step runs sequentially using the output of the previous step as its input. Steps 1–3 use the Gemini vision model; Step 4 uses the Fal Vectorize API.
Step 1 — FLATTEN
What it does: Transforms your garment photo into a professional e-commerce product photo.
- Lays the garment flat on a clean white background
- Top-down view with accurate proportions
- Removes background clutter and distractions
- Output: clean flat-lay product photo ready for catalog use
Typical use: Creating consistent product photos from photos taken in any setting — on a hanger, worn, folded, or on any surface.
Step 2 — TECHNICAL SKETCH
What it does: Converts the flat-lay output into a black and white technical flat sketch.
- Generates both front view and back view side by side
- Removes all prints, patterns, and texture
- Clean line drawing style suitable for vectorization
- Technical fashion illustration style matching industry standards
Typical use: Creating the tech pack sketch for production documentation, pattern making, and supplier communication.
Step 3 — PATTERN PIECES
What it does: Analyzes the technical sketch and color-codes every individual pattern piece.
- Each distinct pattern piece is filled with a different solid color block
- No outlines — solid flat fills only
- Colors represent separate pieces: front bodice, back bodice, sleeve, collar, cuff, etc.
- Clean flat graphic style ready for pattern analysis
Typical use: Identifying and counting all pattern pieces, preparing for grading and marker planning.
Step 4 — VECTORIZE
What it does: Converts the color-blocked pattern map into a scalable SVG vector file.
- Uses the Fal Vectorize API for high-quality vector conversion
- Output is a true SVG file — infinitely scalable at any size
- SVG result is added directly to the StyTrix Canvas
- Ideal for CAD software, laser cutting, and production pattern files
Typical use: Creating production-ready vector patterns that can be imported into Illustrator, Gerber, or any CAD pattern system.
Running the Pipeline
Start: Once your garment image is loaded, click Start Pipeline to begin Step 1.
Continue: After each step completes, click Continue to Step N to proceed. Each step shows its status in real time:
| Status | Indicator |
|---|---|
| Pending | Gray number badge |
| Processing | Amber pulsing badge + spinner |
| Complete | Green badge with checkmark |
| Error | Red badge |
Step results appear as thumbnails immediately after each step completes. Click the thumbnail strip to expand and view the full-size output.
Add to Canvas: Hover over any output thumbnail and click the + icon to add that result directly to the StyTrix Canvas as a new element.
Retry & Re-run
Every completed or failed step shows a ↺ retry button:
- On error: Retries just that step without resetting the pipeline
- On complete: Re-runs the step from that point, clearing all downstream results — useful if you want to try a different variation
Pipeline Complete
When all 4 steps finish successfully, the status bar shows "Pipeline complete." The full asset chain is available:
- E-commerce flat-lay photo (PNG)
- Technical front/back sketch (PNG)
- Color-blocked pattern map (PNG)
- Vectorized SVG pattern file
All outputs can be added to the canvas individually.
API Keys
Vectorize uses two AI services:
- Gemini API — for Steps 1–3 (image understanding and generation)
- Fal API — for Step 4 (vectorization)
Both use the platform's server-side keys by default. If you need to use your own keys, expand the Edit mode and enter them in the Gemini API Key and FAL API Key fields.
Practical Workflows
Tech Pack Production Upload a product photo → run all 4 steps → download the technical sketch (Step 2) for your tech pack documentation and the SVG (Step 4) for production patterns.
E-Commerce Photography Upload a garment photo taken on a hanger or worn — Step 1 automatically produces a clean flat-lay e-commerce version without a photoshoot.
Pattern Analysis Run through to Step 3 to instantly see how many pattern pieces your garment has and how they relate spatially — useful for costing and production planning.
Vector Pattern Files Run the full pipeline to produce an SVG from any garment photo — ready for import into Illustrator, Gerber, or any CAD pattern system.
Summary
| Step | Input | Output | Technology |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 — Flatten | Garment photo | E-com flat-lay | Gemini |
| 2 — Technical Sketch | Flat-lay | B&W front/back sketch | Gemini |
| 3 — Pattern Pieces | Sketch | Color-coded pattern map | Gemini |
| 4 — Vectorize | Pattern map | Scalable SVG file | Fal Vectorize |
Vectorize compresses what would normally require a full design studio — photographer, technical illustrator, and pattern maker — into a four-click automated pipeline.
